DR VENETIA LEONIDAKI
Consultant Clinical Psychologist
I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist specialising in helping those affected by addictive behaviours that do not involve substances, complex grief, and long-standing relational difficulties. I work with adults, couples, and young people
In my NHS role as a Consultant Psychologist, I lead a gambling treatment service. I am a co-editor of the book "Breaking Free: How to Stop Gambling" and a visiting lecturer on gambling addiction in many doctorate courses across the country.
Following from lived experience, I have become more sensitive to the impact of profound loss and trauma. My Blog Series on Psychology Today's website deals with the grief of the unborn child and perinatal loss.
Having been on both sides of the therapy room, I have come to appreciate the value of therapy beyond symptom relief and treatment approaches paying attention to how we relate to each other. I am an accredited supervisor in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT).
I have a track record of publications in the area of addiction and relational therapies. I am registered with BPS, HCPC, BABCP, and BPC.
